PATRICK J. KUNTZ
Vice President, Natural Gas & Crude Oil Sales, Marathon Oil Company

Patrick J. Kuntz, vice president, natural gas and crude oil sales was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Kokomo (IN) High School, earned a B.S. degree in finance from Indiana University in 1971 and an M.B.A. degree from Bowling Green (Ohio) State University in 1984.

He began his career with Marathon in 1972 as a financial analyst in the treasury organization in the company's Findlay, Ohio offices. He advanced to supervisor in international banking in 1974 and became director, industry and corporate affairs in 1977.

In 1979, Mr. Kuntz was named coordinating manager in real estate, and returned to the treasury group in 1982 as manager of financial planning. He became manager of finance and administration for Marathon Pipe Line Company in 1984, and was named manager of internal control in Marathon Oil's auditing group in 1986.

Mr. Kuntz transferred to London, England, in 1988 where he served as manager of finance and administration for Marathon Oil (U.K.), Ltd. He returned to Findlay in 1991 as assistant controller, refining, marketing and transportation. In 1992, Mr. Kuntz was named assistant controller, worldwide exploration and production. In 1998, he was named controller, Marathon Oil Company. He was named to his current position in January 2000.

Mr. Kuntz is a certified Public Accountant. He is married and has two children.
