Welcome to the Natural Gas Supply Association’s (NGSA) website.
Today, natural gas plays a vital role in the nation’s energy supply, generating the majority of U.S. electricity, while facilitating greater use of renewable energy sources. More than 60 million Americans use this low-emission, affordable, and reliable fuel in their homes and it’s widely used by restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and other retail businesses. It is both a fuel source and a raw input for the U.S. industrial sector, giving it a global competitive advantage. America also exports liquefied natural gas (LNG) to our trading partners abroad, helping our allies in Europe to keep the lights on during the Ukraine crisis and helping countries in Asia to achieve their climate and energy reliability goals.
NGSA represents major integrated and large independent domestic producers of natural gas. It was established in 1965 and is headquartered in our nation’s capital,.
NGSA supports a balanced energy future, one which ensures a level playing field for all market participants and eliminates inappropriate regulatory barriers to supply. NGSA is dedicated to achieving a cleaner future through strong partnerships with renewables and supporting innovative technologies and market solutions that reduce emissions.
Our mission is to ensure competitive natural gas and power markets that are supported by appropriate regulations. Through various legislative and regulatory policy initiatives, NGSA seeks to maintain competitive markets, improve downstream efficiencies and foster increased supply to U.S. markets.
The association’s long-standing relationship with the executive branch, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Capitol Hill, and with other industry trade groups enables NGSA to effectively represent its membership on natural gas-related regulatory and legislative issues. Moreover, because of our market expertise and strong presence in Washington, D.C., we are viewed by legislators, regulators and members of the news media as industry leaders.
